The Old Guffey Homestead
A Bit of Family History

These two pictures were taken between 1905-1910
(not quite sure who the people are in them)

This photo is of some of the Guffey men with a good stable of horses.
If you'll note (if you have really good eyes), you can just make out the old homestead in the background with the blacksmith shop to the left.

These fine, handsome, young, dapper gentlemen are Marvin, Logan and Hubert Guffey.

I thought it might be fun to put some of these pictures up. Sorry Dad, I didn't have any with you in them. I guess I hadn't made it that far in scanning the scrapbooks. Enjoy anyway :)

A Trip Down Memory Lane
So I (Katie-in case you're wondering who's posting) was digging thru my box of pictures looking for one from my wedding for a collage I'm doing and I came across these. They were just too good to resist putting on the blog!

Here is a young miss Sarah, I'm thinking she was about eight years old here since these were done the summer before our wedding. I'm not sure, but it looks like she was getting ready to go down the stairs on her belly. Always the goosey one :)
Isn't this so sweet? Don't ask me what Dad was doing (looks like he's working where the outlet is in that room), but Ammon was right along-side of him to help out.

I think Ammon got tired of waiting for Dad to let him do some work on the outlet so he decided to "work" on Dad. LOL. See what he's working on?

I remember these particular trips of Ben's. This is one of the times that Ben had Ammon on his back and would run around the "island" on the first floor between the living room, kitchen, dining room and foyer. Ammon would be laughing and laughing and of course we couldn't help but laugh along with him. What a riot!!

Now this reminds me of Sean. I guess Ammon decided he was tired of waiting for someone to get him some carrots and so he did it himself. I'm betting somone didn't close the door all the way and that's how he managed to get in.

I dare you to not laugh when you look at this! Ammon got his hands on Dad's snorkling gear for when he would clean out the pool. He wanted to be just like Dad :)

Happy Birthday to Sarah!

Can you believe it? Sarah's last year of being a teenager :)

Looks like she's having a hard time with all those candles.

Almost there...

One last stubborn candle. Well, at least we were able to do something fun for her on her birthday. However, I hear a certain Dad of ours might have been in the doghouse for forgetting Mom's birthday...hmmm... Well, as a belated wish on the blog....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM/NANA!! WE LOVE YOU LOTS!!!!! (from the Penders')

Kaylee's birthday etc.

Here's Kaylee opening her presents. She was sooo anxious to see what she got!
Salivating as Kyle lights the candles...Rachael made a yummy peppermint cheesecake and Kyle made homemade ice cream, yum!
Can't believe she's 7 years old! I remember when she was just a little baby...!
Jason and I at the D.C. temple to do his Dad's temple work.
What a goof. Isn't the temple breathtaking?! I can't imagine what heaven will be like.

West Virginia

Elijah is such a goof...actually I talked him into trying this on, it was a little small but he ran around in it just the same!
Carter loved playing outside in the pebbles, I'm so glad he didn't try eating them!
Sunny day on the Potomac.
Carter loved playing in this cemetery, probably because he had to stay in the backpack for the hike up to it.
An old burnt out church in Harpers Ferry

Visit to Rach and Kyle

Family projects are oh so fun, and we had one at the Ward's! We helped Rachael and Kyle paint their mountain home a lovely warm brown. Here is Jason, he actually does like painting!

Of course Nana could not be stopped, constantly cleaning this, picking up that, playing with kids and painting a lot. We love her!
Annabelle was much better behaved than our little rugrat, it was amazing to see the difference between her and Carter--she would be content to sit and play with one thing and Rachael didn't even worry that she would get into the paint. To let Carter wander would have been disastrous!
Here's Kyle getting the high spots--I was way to scared to paint as high as he and Jason did!
Since somebody had to have an eye on Carter at all times, I spent a lot of time playing and feeling guilty that I wasn't painting! Here are Kaylee and Elijah swatting bubbles as fast as I could make them.

Ben and Brittney dropped in

smoocha smoocha, thanks honey for taking us out to dinner!

Grandfather decided a bib would be a good idea, here's the waiter tying it on him.
Ben's no fool, he knew he'd need one, too. If it isn't the grease, the sauce'll get ya every time!

Happy Mother's Day ladies! Here's 4 generations gathered together.
